A man was taken into custody on Thursday, then released in the evening. A search of his home revealed

He went spontaneously to the gendarmerie on Thursday, May 19, in the afternoon.

The man who is suspected of having recovered several Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and National football club jerseys for free, by inventing a serious illness for his child, was immediately taken into custody at the gendarmerie of the Farlede (Var).

He was released in the evening.

According to our information, an investigation has been opened by the Toulon prosecutor's office for fraud.

A search was also carried out Thursday at the home of this man, in his presence, at La Garde.

It allowed the police to get their hands on several jerseys, as well as goodies from football clubs.

Investigators are currently trying to determine the extent of the scam set up by the main suspect, unemployed, and if it could have served for a possible personal enrichment or if it was simply a way to this collector to acquire jerseys.

Possible legal consequences must be decided in the coming days.

His former neighbors, to whom he had his parcels delivered, filed a complaint for identity theft, also early Thursday afternoon.

The latter accuse the forties of having created an email address in the name of the wife to pass her off as the mother of the child, who does not suffer from leukemia or heart problem as he indicated in the videos sent to the clubs.

Several shirts have been returned to clubs

The Toulon prosecutor's office is also looking into the insults and threats received by the couple of ex-neighbors, via the wife's Messenger account, mistakenly taken for the scammer.

It stands ready, if necessary, to initiate criminal proceedings for harassment against the authors of these messages.

The main suspect would have in any case, indicate several concordant sources, returned by parcel several of his jerseys during the day of Thursday, the day after his scheme was revealed on social networks.

The Auxerre club (Ligue 2) and Bourg-Péronnas (National) indicated that they had announced that the shirts of striker Gaëtan Charbonnier and midfielder Maxime Blanc were going to leave respectively in Yonne and Ain .

Bourg-en-Bresse's communication manager has posted pictures of jerseys ready to be shipped on social networks.

[UPDATE JERSEY SCAM]

The story is even crazier this morning, I identified more than 20 clubs and he usurped the identity of his colleague who will file a complaint against this scammer because it was the name of his wife who appeared in emails...

Many clubs have been contacted in connection with this scam.

Créteil (National) thus organized a videoconference with the child and his goalkeeper Riffi Mandanda, who then sent a pair of gloves.

At least two Ligue 1 clubs, Monaco and Reims, were also victims and passed on a jersey.
