Summary: Everton - Crystal Palace 2: 3 (Sport 1)

Everton secured yesterday (Thursday) a stay of another season in the Premier League thanks to a dramatic 2: 3 victory over Crystal Palace, after already trailing 2: 0 and fearing they would struggle against relegation until the last minute of the last round.

Thanks to the victory Everton can breathe a sigh of relief, and the third relegated player (who will join Watford and Norwich) will be either Leeds or Burnley.

Burnley are in better shape, and need in the final round to achieve a better result than Leeds to stay.

The team from Lancashire will host Newcastle, while Jesse March's players will play away against Brentford.

Everton fans were so excited by the winning goal that they could not stop themselves and burst onto the pitch - even though the goal was only in the 85th minute.

Of course the game was in jeopardy, including fear of a technical loss to the hostess at Goodison Park, but eventually the fans returned to the stands, the game resumed, and of course with the final whistle and the official promise of staying they broke out again - this time celebrating long minutes.

During the break-in, Palace coach Patrick Vieira was documented in a moment of embarrassment, attacking one of the fans and kicking him.

Frank Lampard, eight in the middle of the season, has managed to secure the stay of Everton, who will play 69 seasons in the Premier League, with only Arsenal holding a longer streak (97).

"We knew we had to win today, because in the last round we are out against Arsenal, and we knew it would be difficult," Lampard said at the end. "We got faith, and the fans were amazing. The crowd lifted the players, and together we created a special day in Everton's history."
