When he appeared in the state parliament, the 1860 coach hardly missed a topic - and landed a lot of laughs.
Those were his best sayings.
Over eleven games in five and a half weeks after the first Corona lockdown:
"Brunswick was promoted with two teams, one played on Wednesday and one on Saturday.
With us, a Timo Gebhart was not able to play on Wednesdays or Saturdays.”
About the “limit experience” of a Corona training camp:
“After the weeks of training in three isolated groups, we suddenly only had chiefs – and no Indians at all.
I said to my wife at the time: If things go on like this for another three days, 1860 will have a new coach.
That was a learning experience.”
About the different characters of players:
“Stefan Lex would carefully look in through the door and say: Oh, what a bunch of people – I'd rather wait outside;
they will get me when they need me.
A Sascha Mölders would open the door, march in and ask: Is this the summer house of the stars?
I have to find a lever to give the team a certain basic arrogance, a strong mental quality.
When you have five doubters in the dressing room, it doesn't help that much."
About the club's talents:
"We have great boys, but it's not the football lights to the power of ten that Hansi Flick calls and says: I'll take them to Qatar!
But: Something is growing, the identity is high – and they work their ass off.”

On the out of sight out of mind mentality of a football crowd:
“We had a death here two years ago – and nobody noticed.
none!
Since Corona, our mascot (Sechzgerl) hasn't been doing any gymnastics on the lawn, so I'm assuming that it passed away.
If I didn't come anymore, no one would notice.
The fan says to himself: If Huber goes, Maier will come.
Or is anyone else asking about (Lorenz) Knöferl, who scored a goal two years ago as the youngest player in the sixties?”
About his displeasure with politics:
"I left the SPD after 35 years - because of Karl Lauterbach.
You should put a stop to that.
What has happened in Germany in the last two years is fear politics and not solution-oriented.
I have no idea what this is based on.
After two years, the lights should finally come on.
This is my personal opinion."
