A dream goal at the start, Ada Hegerberg in top form: The players from Olympique Lyon are the football queens of Europe. In the final, the highly rated Barcelona were completely beside themselves for a long time.

Olympique Lyon won the Champions League with a show of force.

In the final in Turin, the record champion of the football competition beat FC Barcelona 3:1 (3:1) and thus won the premier class for the eighth time.

The Spaniards had won the Champions League last year and put in a unique season, but coach Jonatan Giráldez's side struggled against Lyon for a long time.

Amandine Henry (6th minute), Ada Hegerberg (23rd) and Catarina Macario had already given Lyon a 3-0 lead after 33 minutes.

Alexia Putellas made it 1:3 (41st) just before half-time.

Norway's 2018 World Cup winner Hegerberg was one of the night's best, but the first moment belonged to a teammate - and Henry's opening goal in the sixth minute was worth seeing in more than one way.

After a pass that was too short from superstar Hegerberg on the left, Henry impressively recaptured the ball with a tackle.

The Frenchwoman got up quickly, stayed on the ball and sunk it into the right corner of the goal from a good 25 yards out.

Goalkeeper Sandra Panos had no chance.

Lyon played well against the ball, repeatedly stopped the offensive efforts of the Spaniards and continued to attack - with success.

Hegerberg headed in a Selma Bacha cross from close range (23').

It almost got worse shortly afterwards, but Hegerberg couldn't get past keeper Panos from a tight angle in front of the goal (26').

Barcelona with the world footballer Putellas went into the game as favourites.

Barça had won every game in the league and suffered their only defeat of the season in the Champions League semi-final against VfL Wolfsburg in the second leg at the end of April.

But after a 5-1 win in the first leg, this bankruptcy had no consequences.

In addition, attendance records around FC Barcelona caused enthusiasm.

But there was no sign of the Spaniards' self-confidence.

Barcelona didn't come up with any ideas while in possession, but their defense was even worse.

Lyon had an easy game to make it 3-0: the French put pressure on their opponents in the penalty area with three attackers, Hegerberg took the ball and Macario only had to push over the line at the left post (33').

Just a few moments later, Hegerberg missed another great chance to score the next goal (36').

The 26-year-old has struggled with serious injuries in the past and has been out for almost two years. Tonight she was unstoppable, at least in the first half.

But then Putellas scored with a nice direct acceptance after a cross from Caroline Graham Hansen to make it 1:3 (41st).

After almost an hour, the crossbar prevented Patri from scoring a spectacular goal after trying a long-range shot from 45 meters (59').

Barcelona were now stronger, but Lyon didn't offer much space for combination football even in the closing stages.

Substitute Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic could have made it exciting again in the 83rd minute, but she just missed the goal.

In added time, Hegerberg hit the post again.
