Returning to the 1990s: What did we learn from the Tel Aviv derby? | Israel today

2022-05-22T21:23:11.724Z

Israeli basketball is reminiscent of oblivion, with a real fight for football • Scotty Wilbkin and Jacoben Brown continue to be the ones for whom they buy a ticket to the stands • Despite Maccabi Tel Aviv's victory over Hapoel, can anyone bet against Bnei Herzliya?

Israeli basketball returns in the last week to its 1990s, in which it managed to give a real contrast to local football.

This is especially true of the Tel Aviv derby: the verb like in the 90s is back to being irrelevant on the lawn, but on the parquet it is a completely different story.

Anyone who has been to Drive-In in the last two games could not help but remember the good old days of Ussishkin, when three people came in on one ticket and cigarettes were in control. Here, Hapoel would compete for the World Cup in football and basketball.

So true, the players on the court and probably the foreigners on them, made no mention of Earl Williams and Ulsie Perry sitting in the stands, but since when do you look at the level when it comes to local basketball the foreigners blow up and have a hard time maintaining an Israeli character even though the guys are really trying to keep up.

Two players on the field have proven that there is another reason to buy a ticket to the local league: on the one hand - Scotty Wilbkin the last superstar in yellow, and on the red side - Jacoben Brown who may be fought all over, but what he has in his hands most foreigners do not have.

As in the Cup final, the Reds started wonderfully but weakened later and succumbed to Maccabi's tradition and depth, which continues after an abrasive series that with a little more common sense in Hapoel's game, would have rightly come to a fifth game that has reached industry fans so much.

And if the cup is already final, is anyone willing to say out loud that Herzliya is not a favorite for a double this year?

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
