British police announced on Monday that no official prosecution would be initiated against the French coach, neither of the two protagonists having wished to file a complaint.

As of last Friday, the police of Merseyside (north-west of England) had launched an investigation into this altercation.
"Officers have spoken to the two men involved and the opportunity to file a formal complaint or support a lawsuit has been denied," local authorities said.
The investigation by the English Federation (FA) continues however.
Patrick Vieira therefore still risks a sporting sanction.
