Kuala Lumpur-SANA
The draw for the Asian Cup under-17 football championship, which was drawn today in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, has placed the Syrian team in Group A along with Japan, "the title holder and three-time champion", in addition to Jordan, the Philippines and Turkmenistan.
The tournament will start in October and qualify for the finals, which will take place in Bahrain next year, the ten group champions, in addition to the best five second-placed teams.
It is noteworthy that the next edition holds the number 20 in the history of the championship, but it is the first since the under-17 category was adopted instead of the under-16 category.
Our junior team has previously qualified for six finals, during which it managed to reach the quarter-finals in four participations and the semi-finals in 2006 and 2014.
