The BBC was forced to publish an embarrassing apology today (Tuesday) after the phrase "Manchester United junk" appeared on one of the subtitles on screen.
One-eyed viewers spotted early in the morning on a broadcast of one of the news programs a ticker with the surprising, inappropriate caption, which appeared at the bottom of the screen.
After two hours the network was required to apologize and make it clear that the mistake stemmed from an error by a new apprentice in the system, who did an experiment, which inadvertently went on the air.

"Earlier today maybe some of you noticed something quite unusual about the ticker that appears at the bottom of the screen, which included a comment about Manchester United," the news presenter said this morning.
"I hope Manchester United fans were not offended by this."
In an attempt to explain the mistake she added: "Behind the scenes someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and put text on the ticker.
" So they just wrote random things, not seriously.
This comment appeared on screen, so we apologize if you saw it and got hurt and you are a Manchester United fan, but it was definitely a mistake.
It's not meant to appear on screen but that's what happened.
We just thought we'd better explain it. "
A child's mistake.

This is not the first time the BBC has "gotten involved" with Manchester United.
Alex Ferguson has previously refused to be interviewed by the BBC for seven years after a documentary on the Internet published accusations against his son Jason.
