After Ralf Schumacher, Michael Schumacher and Mick Schumacher, David Schumacher also wants to get into Formula 1. His father Ralf's tips work - which the junior can hardly believe.

Munich – Audi and Porsche will enter Formula 1 in 2026.

VW boss Herbert Diess is planning with German drivers in the new teams.

There are already one or two candidates for a place in the German cockpit.

One of them has a big name: David Schumacher.

He is not only the cousin of the Haas driver Mick Schumacher, but also the son of the former Formula 1 driver and today's

Sky

expert Ralf Schumacher.

David is in the process of writing his own story, the 20-year-old drives in the DTM.

David Schumacher: Formula 1 aspirant talks about his beginnings

Like commentator Christian Danner, David Schumacher was a guest on

Sport 1 's

AvD Motor & Sport Magazin”

and talked about his childhood, among other things.

Schumacher went karting for the first time at the age of four. “I started crying at the time because it was too loud for me.

My father then forced me to do it a bit,” he recalls.

But after just two or three laps he was having fun.

Schumacher has only been following Formula 1 since 2015. "It was always the goal to go in the direction of Formula 1," says the driver of "Winward Racing" confidently.

But the native of Salzburg is concentrating on the present.

“Now the DTM is the topic I'm concentrating on.

I want to deliver good results and we'll have to see what comes after that, depending on how the search for sponsors looks like."

Formula 1: Schumacher needs a lot of money to achieve his goal

Money is a big topic in motorsport.

Schumacher wanted to drive in Formula 2 last season, but he couldn't raise the required 2.5 million euros.

"You definitely need all the elements to get promoted to Formula 1 - good contacts and a lot of money," criticized Formula 1 legend Mika Häkkinen.

"By the time you've reached Formula 1, you've already burned several million," the Finn told the

Sunday newspaper

a few years ago.

And the way to Formula 1 has been getting more and more expensive ever since.

So Schumacher has to shine with his performances in order to win sponsors.

His father could play an important role in this.

David about father Ralf Schumacher: "Mostly he nagged"

"He gave me everything.

Most of the time he nagged that I did something wrong that I can't influence at all," says David about father Ralf Schumacher.

“He gives me a lot of tips, even if he has never ridden with ABS and traction control, he always knows better and it always works.

Then I sit there and look at him and think to myself: This can't work.

And then it works.

That annoys me a bit.”
