Between Kevin Mayer and Jérôme Simian, the beautiful agreement is over.

The double silver medalist at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016 and Tokyo last year), also world record holder in the decathlon (9126 points), announced it in a press release published on Wednesday afternoon.

“We have some disagreements on the form which lead us to this decision, explains the world champion in 2017. Jérôme is a remarkable physical trainer and has a huge technical eye.

I am very grateful to him for the work done together and for everything he has given me.

The two men had started working together at the end of 2013. Jérôme Simian, who initially took care of the decathlete as a physical trainer (as well as the discus thrower Mélina Robert-Michon), had become his trainer two years ago when the collaboration between the latter and Bertrand Valcin had ceased.

Kevin Mayer will continue his preparation for the world championships (which will take place in Eugene in the United States from July 15 to 24) with Alexandre Bonacorsi, his other coach since 2016. His brother Thomas will be in charge of coordinating the project.

He will also be able to count on the support of Romain Barras, who has always been in his entourage, today director of high performance at the French Athletics Federation.
