It's happening again.
A month and a half before the World Fencing Championships in Cairo, Egypt, the departure of the Israeli team is in doubt, due to security issues.
Recently, the fencing association has been trying to persuade the relevant parties to add security to the sensitive place, but without any success because of the recent sanctions.
Among the members of the delegation is former European Champion Yuval Freilich, who is currently ranked 23rd in the world, and hopes to screw up high and many team members who want to start the 2024 Paris Olympics campaign on the right foot, already in Cairo.
The fencing association said: "We can not afford not to fly to the world championships again this year, we have started counting for the Olympics. It is not possible that our men's team will not participate and lose the position in the overall rankings.
Just last week, it was first reported in "Israel Today" that the football team may also fly to the games in Albania and Iceland unaccompanied by GSS security guards, and it seems that it will probably have to hire private security, but the fencing union clarifies that this is not possible. Much like that of football.
