The search for a coach at Borussia Dortmund is over: Edin Terzic is the new (old) coach.

Marco Rose's end caused a shock for BVB star Julian Brandt.

Update from May 24, 1:15 p.m .:

The separation between Marco Rose and Borussia Dortmund surprised some – including BVB player Julian Brandt.

Even before the new (old) coach Edin Terzic was introduced, Brandt spoke on Saturday (May 21) in the podcast “Kicker meets DAZN” about the dismissal, which had been announced the day before.

"I think I was completely in shock for ten minutes because I didn't expect it at all," revealed the 26-year-old.

He did not know that a separation was in the room or imminent.

A friend sent him a screenshot, and according to Brandt, he replied with the words: "That's from Postillon, isn't it?" Postillon publishes satirical articles on the Internet.

Brandt's friend finally said no and replied that it came from BVB's side.

"Then I went on there and there it really was.

I expected a lot of things that could happen in the next few days, but that's crazy," said the BVB player, but shortly afterwards pointed out the "fast pace of football".

"In the end, it's not my job to judge, but I was surprised," he added.

He had the feeling that it was a "long-term story" between Borussia Dortmund and Marco Rose.

Official: Edin Terzic is the new BVB coach

Update from May 23, 3:06 p.m .:

Edin Terzic is the new coach of Borussia Dortmund!

The club confirmed this on Monday.

The 39-year-old takes over as head coach of the black and yellow for the second time and receives a contract until 2025.

"We held several intensive discussions with Edin Terzic last weekend and are convinced that this personnel decision is the right one for BVB.

Edin knows our club, the environment, a large part of the team and knows what adjustments we want to make in order to be able to offer our fans successful football.

The 2022/23 season is characterized by a new start in sport,” says the designated sports director Sebastian Kehl.

Edin Terzic emphasizes: “By now, many people should know how important BVB is in my life.

I would therefore like to sincerely thank Aki Watzke, Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl for their great trust and for transferring this great responsibility.

We will give everything every day for the success of the team and the entire club."

BVB: Who will be Rose's successor?

First report from May 23:

Dortmund – The news of the separation between Marco Rose and BVB, which tz.de also reported, came as a surprise to many.

On Friday (May 20) the club announced that the coach will no longer be on the sidelines of the black and yellow team in the coming season.

As soon as Rose's departure was known, the discussions started as to who would now take over the coaching scepter at Borussia Dortmund.

After all, the trainer market in the Bundesliga is currently full.

In the past few weeks, several clubs have parted ways with their trainers.

BVB trainer wanted: Six candidates are possible – Edin Terzic is the clear favourite

  • Name: Edin Terzic

  • Club: Borussia Dortmund

  • Age: 39 years

  • Contract: until 2025

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 9 out of 10 points

The name Edin Terzic was mentioned early on as the successor to Marco Rose at BVB, as RUHR24 reported.

It is hardly surprising that in his short time as a professional coach at Borussia Dortmund he achieved a Champions League placement, won the DFB Cup and quickly became a fan favorite with his down-to-earth manner.

What also clearly speaks for Terzic: He knows the club – as a fan and as an employer.

He used to stand in the south stand himself, but since 2010 – with breaks at Besiktas Istanbul and West Ham – he has stood on the sidelines as a youth and assistant coach.

After Marco Rose's arrival, the club were smart enough to keep the 39-year-old close and gave him the post of technical director.

He is the clear favorite for the runner-up position, and several media have already reported that he will take over.

BVB is looking for a new coach: Florian Kohfeldt gained Bundesliga experience in Wolfsburg and Bremen

  • Name: Florian Kohfeldt

  • Club: without a club

  • Age: 39 years

  • Contract: no information

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 3 out of 10 points

Florian Kohfeldt is also back on the market.

After losing 6-1 to BVB with VfL Wolfsburg, the Bundesliga club parted ways with the trainer.

Now he is being associated with the black and yellow of all things.

And that for the second time: When Borussia separated from Lucien Favre, there was speculation about BVB's interest in the Werder coach at the time.

At that time, Michael Zorc found clear words: Even if he appreciates Kohfeldt as a "Werder coach", there is "no basis at all" for the rumors of change, he told the

Weser Kurier

at the time .

Florian Kohfeldt will probably have to take a back seat when it comes to the current trainer question.

BVB trainer: Fans bring Adi Hütter into the conversation as Rose's successor

  • Name: Adi Hütter

  • Club: without a club

  • Age: 52 years

  • Contract: no information

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 5 out of 10 points

"I thought everyone was behind Rose?

I don't quite get it right now.

This is actually kinda shocking.

The question now is: Who will take over BVB next season?

The trainer market doesn't exactly allow for much.

Except for Adi Hütter," was a comment on Twitter when the separation was announced.

Apparently some Dortmund fans were upset about the upcoming change of coach.

Adi Hütter was part of the three-man change last season: when Marco Rose went from Gladbach to Dortmund, he switched from Eintracht Frankfurt to the "foals".

Oliver Glasner took over the club from Main.

Only Glasner is still in the office of the new club.

After Terzic, it is probably the most frequently used name when it comes to the Rose successor.

However, he will probably lose out to the original Borussia player Edin Terzic.

BVB trainer wanted: Jogi Löw is also on the market

  • Name: Joachim Loew

  • Club: without a club

  • Age: 62 years

  • Contract: no information

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 2 out of 10 points

It would be a real hit: the future of ex-national coach Joachim Löw has been unclear since his departure.

However, it seems unlikely that the 62-year-old will choose a career in black and yellow.

Not least because he has often clashed with the BVB managing director in the past.

The criticism was once that too few Dortmund professionals were nominated in the DFB team.

In addition, Joachim Löw is apparently traded at Paris Saint-Germain.

L'Equipe

reported that PSG are said to have studied his profile.

It has become quiet around Jogi Löw since his retirement as national coach.

The chances of a BVB change are still low.

Borussia Dortmund is looking for a coach: Daniel Farke already knows BVB

  • Name: Daniel Farke

  • Club: without a club

  • Age: 45 years

  • Contract: no information

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 4 out of 10 points

Daniel Farke already knows BVB: from November 2015 to June 2017 he coached the second team at Borussia Dortmund before moving to FK Krasnodar via Norwich City.

He has been without a club since March.

A return is unlikely.

Especially since Farke should also be an issue at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

After leaving FK Krasnodar, Daniel Farke is back on the market.

BVB trainer from within the ranks: Otto Addo convinces as national coach

  • Name: Otto Addo

  • Club: Borussia Dortmund

  • Age: 46 years

  • Contract: no information

  • Probability of the new Dortmund coach: 3 out of 10 points

Otto Addo is currently proving his coaching qualities with the Ghanaian national team.

Under his leadership, Ghana made it to the World Cup for the first time since 2014.

The Dortmund talent coach will also be on the sidelines for the “Black Stars” at the controversial World Cup in Qatar.

Despite his success with the national team, it is unlikely that he will become head coach at BVB.

His work as a talent coach is very much appreciated by the black and yellow.

His contract runs until June 2025.
