The semi-final stage of the basketball Premier League playoffs starts tonight (Thursday) with the game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Bnei Herzliya, which is hosted by Yad Eliyahu with the goal of winning there for the first time this season, after the two teams kept home in the three meetings between the regular season and the upper house.
Ante Žižić, who missed the quarter-final series against Hapoel Tel Aviv due to the injury he suffered in the head against Hapoel Haifa, returned to the yellow squad instead of Jaylen Reynolds, while Angelo Cloiaro and Kyrie Thomas were not recorded this time either.
The champion counts seven consecutive home victories over the rival from Sharon, but her last game in the arena ended in her first playoff loss in this home in seven years.
The trophy holder never succeeded in a series in which she did not enjoy the home advantage, and in three of the previous cases in which she qualified for the semifinals, Bnei Herzliya was eliminated by Maccabi Tel Aviv.
However, with stars like Chinano Onoako and Chris Bab leading it, it may be the best opportunity the Blues have had.
Coach Oren Aharoni surprised when he included Quinton Hooker in place of the excellent DJ Cooper, even though Hooker has only made one appearance since he was injured against Hapoel Haifa three months ago.
