Poinger deaf gunman wins two gold medals at Deaflympics in Brazil.
Poing - The deaf sports shooter Colin Müller from Poing won two gold medals at the Deaflympics - so far the highest achievement for the 28-year-old world and European champion of the Hubertus shooters.
Müller thus succeeded his predecessor Ingo Schweinsberg (52), also a member of the Hubertus Poing rifle club.
The man from Anzing also won two gold medals in Taiwan in 2009, later stepped off the stage as a shooter and is now division manager of the German Deaf Sports Association and technical director of the International Deaf Sports Committee (ICSD) and is therefore responsible for the Deaflympics, among other things.
From bronze to gold to silver
Young talent Müller has stayed on the ball ever since: After winning the silver medal in Sofia in 2013 and the bronze plaque in Samsun, Turkey, in 2017, he secured the two gold medals in Caxias do Sul at the Deaflympics in Brazil with the Luftgwejr.
This time 73 German athletes were at the start, two of them from the district of Ebersberg.
According to the ICSD, a total of 2401 athletes from 73 nations competed in 20 sports.
Germany was among the top ten in the medal ranking (five gold, eight silver, six bronze).

In Brazil, the games have had to be repeatedly postponed since May 2021 due to the pandemic.
In addition, there was the date that was finally fixed, but announced relatively spontaneously, which led to a great deal of organizational effort, as well as technical problems, such as the electronic shooting range that was delivered too late, so that the competition plans had to be changed and partly postponed, according to the ICSD.
In Caxias do Sul, Müller competed in the disciplines 3x40 and prone.
In the prone fight, Poinger came third in the final.
Until the third-placed Changhoon Choi, Deaflympic winner of 2017, retired, it was close between the Ukrainian Dmitry Petrenko and the 28-year-old Müller.
Müller was in the lead up to the 22nd round with 225.6:224.8 points.
Two shots later, the result was finally set after 20.3:20.8 points:.
Müller won gold with it and, on top of that, set a new Deaflympic final record by just under 0.3 points.
