At Chelsea, he was an institution and had resisted all the coaching changes, from Mourinho to Antonio Conte and so many others.

Frenchman Christophe Lollichon, 59, announced on Twitter on Wednesday evening that he was leaving the English club, where he had worked since 2007, first as goalkeeper coach, then more recently as head of goalkeeper development.

"From coaching the first-team goalkeepers to working with goalkeepers on loan and the recruitment department, being part of the club's success has been a great honour," he said.

Lollichon arrived in England in 2007, being part of the deal when famous goalkeeper Petr Cech was transferred from Rennes to Chelsea.

Very close to the Czech, he accompanied the rest of his career before taking care of other great goalkeepers, such as the Belgian Thibaut Courtois or more recently Edouard Mendy.

For the rest of his career, Lollichon admits Thursday in Ouest-France to have a "very personal project for goalkeepers and another with a club".
