ICE HOCKEY Hannes Sedlmayr back at the Tölzer Löwen – contract for three months for the time being

Bad Tölz – Well over 400 games for the Tölzer Löwen.

In addition, all the offspring of the ECT and most recently worked there as a trainer: Hannes Sedlmayr is an institution in Tölz ice hockey.

But his career came to an end prematurely: the aftermath of a corona disease.

He will not have played ice hockey for almost two years when the new season in the Oberliga starts again.

But he is there: The 31-year-old is back on the ice for the Tölzer Löwen.

Initially equipped with a contract for three months.

"If things go well until November or December, there is the option to extend until the end of the season," says Löwen boss Ralph Bader.

11th season for the number 11

Sedlmayr is happy to be back.

The health checks at the end of March and beginning of April were positive and he was given the green light.

Would have liked to have intervened again at the end of the past DEL 2 season.

Of course that wasn't possible, Sedlmayr wasn't even licensed.

But now everything is ready for a comeback.

"I'm happy to be healthy again, it was always my wish to wear the Tölzer jersey again."

At Sedlmayr we know that it could

Bader thinks highly of the Waakirchner.

"Sedlmayr is one, you know that he could do it.

I think we'll have a lot of fun with him when he gets really fit again," says the Garmisch-Partenkirchner.

"He can become a really good striker in the premier league, depending on which strike partners he plays with." The prerequisite for this: the physical ability has to come back.

Bader: "He was completely out for almost two years, so he still has a lot to do, he knows that himself and he does it, I have to praise him for that."

Still a lot to do in terms of sport

Sedlmayr himself would also like to get there.

"I'm ready to follow the Tölzer path after relegation and I still have a lot planned in terms of sport." So the player with the number 11 is starting his 11th season with the Tölzer Löwen.

Key role in the Tölz team

If he finds his way back to his old form, Bader will assign him a key role in the Tölzer Löwen team: "He can become a leading player again, a leader who is also important in the cabin and leads the way on the ice." Bader is sure he will wants to prove to himself and the Tölzers that he can become his old self again.

Squad planning, search for sponsors, licensing

With the further squad planning, Bader is already relatively far - even if there are not too many reports of completion.

He is looking for an experienced German striker and has already made offers to two younger attacking players.

He has also had talks with a well-known striker and a defender in Tölz.

"If things go the way I imagine, we'll have at least eleven Tölz players in the squad," says Bader, who is also in the middle of looking for three contingent players for the Löwen pack.

"I already have a few names on the list."

Submitted for the DEL2 as a precaution

He is also currently involved in finding sponsors and licensing for the leagues.

To be on the safe side, the Tölzers have also submitted documents for the DEL 2.

"We are planning for the premier league, but it could be that we move up to the second league.

Then we should at least be ready.” Bader has the documents for the Oberliga as good as complete.
