After winning their respective championships and passing the first round of the playoffs, the youngsters of the Parisian club are competing in the semi-finals

If the season is over for the first team, it is not yet the case for the young people of PSG.

Indeed, on the strength of their respective successes against Toulouse (6-1) and Nantes (3-2) last week, the U19 and U17 of the capital club will try to obtain their qualification for the finals of the national championship scheduled for Saturday 4 (U17) and Sunday 5 June (U19) in Saint-Quentin (Aisne).

“We have two very important matches to play and we hope to qualify,” announces Yohan Cabaye, the sports coordinator of the Paris training center.

To afford a last dream meeting this season, the under-17s trained by Stéphane Moreau will have to beat Toulouse this Saturday, May 28, at 3 p.m., in Borgo.

The next day at the same time, Zoumana Camara's U19s will seek to take the best of AS Monaco, in Amnéville, for a shock that promises to be very open between two of the best teams in their category.

The other semi-finals will pit Ajaccio against Lyon (U17) and Nantes against Brest (U19).

“They are hypermotivated”

PSG is the only club to place its two teams in the last four.

A satisfaction for the leaders who insist on the fact that this is not the result of chance.

"It's the reward for the work done since day one," continues Cabaye.

We are very demanding with the players.

We want them to progress every day and this vision allows us to have good results.

It's good to be in the semi-finals, but it's not the end.

If we play competitions it is to win them.

We have two very good groups, in U19 as in U17, with a superb atmosphere.

They are doing very good things.

The players all want to go to the end.

It was not possible in the Youth League or in Gambardella, they are hypermotivated.

Throughout the 2021-2022 season, Yohan Cabaye, who arrived last summer, worked together with Angelo Castellazzi, Leonardo's right arm still in place, in the hope that the work carried out would bear fruit.

There is a certain pride in seeing the young people wearing the club's colors.

"This shows the high quality of recruitment already, with a sector that is doing a lot of work under the leadership of Pierre Reynaud and his team," he said.

We also have a top-level pre-training system, with very competent trainers.

All hope to see the "little ones" lift a major trophy in eight days.

But before that, there are still hurdles to overcome, starting with this weekend.

The U19s are still without Warren Zaire-Emery and El Chadaille Bitshiabu.

Already absent in the quarters, the two players are engaged in Euro U17 with the France team.

They face Portugal, this Sunday, May 29 (4:30 p.m.), for a place in the final of the competition.
