The European Jiu-Gitsu Championship, currently being held at the Ein Sara Hall in Nahariya, is welcoming Israeli competitors, who have so far collected two medals, one gold and one silver.
Nimrod Rider was crowned European Champion in the weight category up to 85 kg, after beating opponents from Romania, France and Bulgaria in the preliminary rounds, and finally also winning the all-Israeli final.
Whoever was waiting for him there was his teammate, Saar Shemesh, who automatically advanced to the second round and on the way to the final defeated rivals from Germany and Croatia.
The final battle was considered, but Rider finally demonstrated superiority and won gold.
Shemesh settled for the silver medal, a significant achievement.
Team coach Amir Boaron said at the end: "I always say that determination and perseverance is a recipe for success."
