TuS Holzkirchen II managed to win 1-0 against Waldram in coach Alexander Maier's last game.

The end of the season was a success for the reserves.

Holzkirchen – His green-whites were able to fulfill the wish that Alexander Maier had before his last game as interim coach of TuS Holzkirchen II: On the last day of the 2021/22 season, the TuS kickers defeated DJK Waldram on their own pitch with 1 :0 and thus managed a successful end of the season.

"In the end we were the happier winners," says Maier.

However, that should not have bothered him much during the subsequent celebrations.

While the guests from Waldram are facing an extension of the season in the form of relegation, the TuS kickers were able to pack their goal of staying up in the league a few weeks ago.

20 minutes before the end

Appropriately, the guests seemed more grippy in the first section.

"They had a lot of corner kicks and set pieces that we had to defend.

That was exhausting,” Maier pointed out.

Especially since TuS goalkeeper Raphael Blaschke prevented the deficit with a real brilliant act after fifteen minutes: Holzkirchen's keeper was just able to parry a powerful shot into the left corner of his goal with a foot defense.

"That's why it was rather flattering for us to be 0-0 at the break," notes Maier.

That changed in the second section.

Strictly speaking: around 20 minutes before the end.

"We had nothing to lose, so I switched to three points," reports Maier.

With success, because in this better phase of TuS, Holzkirchen's Michael Glatz scored the goal of the day: Team colleague Tim Feldbrach put the ball through in an exemplary manner, Glatz ran alone to the opposing box and pushed the ball in seconds later to make it 1-0.

"Actually, that was our first chance to score," Maier admits.

Shortly thereafter, Holzkirchen's Florian Mayer put the ball just over the box with a powerful shot - the second chance for the green-whites.

In the final phase, the busy Waldramer just missed the deserved equalizer.

The guests' ball hit the post and could no longer prevent Holzkirchner's victory.

"Basically, we played quite well," sums up Maier.

"But this time we just didn't have the punch in the last third." MARKUS EHAM
