"The success of the Games is an irreproachable organization"... the promises of Amélie Oudéa-Castéra for Paris 2024

The Minister of Sports, the Olympic and Paralympic Games made her first visit to the Paris 2024 organizing committee on Tuesday.

From the terrace of Pulse, the headquarters of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Games based in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), the view of the Olympic sites is breathtaking.

On a visit on Tuesday afternoon, the new Minister for Sports and Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, had only to criss-cross the bins where thyme, raspberries and rosemary grow, to take a look sometimes at the cranes of the Arena La Chapelle, future site (a priori) of badminton, sometimes the huge construction site of the future athletes' village, not far from the aquatic center.

This is under construction, opposite the Stade de France, so inevitably the incidents of last Saturday, during the Champions League final, invite themselves into the conversation.

“Security is at the heart of our concerns, our priorities, assures Tony Estanguet, the president of Paris 2024. We got to work a long time ago.

A year ago, we signed a security protocol with the State mentioning a diagnosis of the number of police forces necessary for the organization of the Games, the role of each one between what Paris 2024 must do but also the forces of order, the Ministry of the Interior, the army, the local police.

We know that this is a key condition for the success of the Games.

“I want everyone’s roles to be clarified”

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra affirms her desire to work hand in hand with the organizing committee, she who in 2017 had applied to become its general manager.

It is this time as the patroness of French sport that she visits the offices, moving from the transport department, to that of international relations or to that of sports.

First meetings to discuss in particular Paris 2024's desire to offer sustainable Games, before a working meeting with Tony Estanguet and his teams.

"I see my role as a role of facilitator for all the stakeholders, I want everyone's roles to be clarified", underlines the minister, when approaching the scope of her ministry, extended to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. .

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra will therefore be greatly involved in the file of the Games (she has joint supervision with Matignon of the interministerial delegation to the Olympics, led by the prefect Michel Cadot).

She brings “a political guarantee” and will have a watchful eye on the heritage.

“The success of the Games is an irreproachable organization - in terms of security and budget - of athletes in top form, a great popular celebration and a legacy in three dimensions: youth, health and social inclusion.

It is up to everyone to bring their stone to the building.
