Captain Alexandra Popp leads the provisional German squad for the European Football Championship in England.
National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg nominated 28 players in Frankfurt am Main on Tuesday;
the provisional squad will be reduced to 23.
The squad of the record European champions for the tournament from July 6th to 31st includes eight players each from champion and cup winner VfL Wolfsburg and runner-up FC Bayern Munich, including 31-year-old Popp with 113 caps and goalkeeper Almuth Schult.
The youngest in the team is 19-year-old Jule Brand from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
However, Olympic champion Schult has to queue up behind her rival Merle Frohms.
'Merle has been number one for three years.
Therefore, nothing changes in this status,” said Voss-Tecklenburg.
Schult had recently expressed hopes of a return between the posts and said: "I want to make the decision as difficult as possible for the national coach.
I don't see that the decision is already set in stone.«
The 31-year-old Schult has been a member of the DFB selection for a long time after the birth of her twins.

moves to Angel City FC in Los Angeles in the USA after the European Championship.
The successor to the 64-time national player in Wolfsburg is Frohms of all people.
The 27-year-old last played for Eintracht Frankfurt for two years, but began her Bundesliga career in Wolfsburg.
Strong opponents await the team
For the 2016 Olympic champion and two-time world champion, it is the first major tournament since the World Cup quarter-finals in 2019. The eight-time European champion also ended up in the quarter-finals of the 2017 European Championship.
In the strong group B, Germany meets runner-up Denmark (July 8), co-favorite Spain (July 12/both London-Brentford) and Finland (July 16/Milton Keynes).
An initial preparation will take place from June 5th to 9th on the association's new campus in Frankfurt.
Before the final measure from 21 to 29 June in Herzogenaurach, the final EM squad will be named.
On June 24th there is a friendly international match against Switzerland in Erfurt.
The only foreign professionals in the squad are midfielder Sara Däbritz from Paris Saint-Germain and goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger from Chelsea.
Dzsenifer Marozsan from Olympique Lyon after a cruciate ligament rupture and the pregnant Melanie Leupolz from Chelsea will miss the European Championship.
