Munich – It is THE topic in football Germany: Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern.

At the beginning of the week he asked his employer from Säbener Straße in Munich very clearly to please let him go this summer.

There had already been media skirmishes between the Bayern bosses and his advisor Pini Zahavi.

National soccer player Leon Goretzka has now made an appeal to both sides in the increasingly heated dispute between Bayern and the goalscorer who is pushing for a change.

"I think that overall it was an incredible success story for both FC Bayern and Lewy.

And just to pay tribute to this story, I would be happy if both sides took out a bit of emotionality and tried to find a good solution for everyone involved," said the 27-year-old midfielder on Tuesday (May 31) in the quarters of the German national team in Herzogenaurach.

The day before, world footballer Lewandowski had increased the pressure on the Polish national team for a transfer a year before his contract with the German Bundesliga record champions expired.

"For today, one thing is certain: my history with Bayern is over.

After everything that has happened in the last few months, I can't imagine continued good cooperation," said the 33-year-old.

In his view, an immediate transfer is "the best solution for both sides".

Soon no more colleagues at FC Bayern?

The management of FC Bayern has so far insisted on a contract being fulfilled.

Lewandowski is apparently drawn to Spain to FC Barcelona.

The Catalans would have to pay a transfer fee for him this summer.

This would have to be at least 40 million euros for the Munich team to consider a change.

Top scorer Lewandowski moved from Borussia Dortmund to the Isar metropolis on a free transfer in 2014.

Since then, the attacker has scored 344 goals in 374 competitive games and prepared 72 more goals.

The Pole was instrumental in the success of the Bundesliga giants in recent years.

In the 2020/21 season he broke Gerd Müller's Bundesliga record for most goals in a season when he scored 41 goals.
