Outstanding player, outstanding businessman.
Basketball player LeBron James has become the first active player in NBA history to become a billionaire, according to Forbes magazine.
After earning 121.2 million dollars (112 million euros) between May 2021 and May 2022, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has exceeded one billion dollars in earnings.
He does better than Michael Jordan, who had to wait 11 years after his retirement to become a billionaire in 2013. Kobe Bryant, who died in 2020, had also exceeded one billion.
He has shares in the Liverpool club
Professional since 2003, four-time NBA champion and four-time MVP, LeBron James is a basketball monument.
But the second all-time leading scorer is also an incredible businessman and star.
He notably appeared last summer in the film "Space Jam: A New Legacy", the sequel to a first part which starred Michael Jordan in the 90s.
James, the second highest-paid sportsman this year behind PSG star Lionel Messi ($130 million), is also heavily invested in Hollywood productions.
He is co-owner of the Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Liverpool football club and the Boston Red Sox baseball franchise.
He recently reached an agreement to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins team in the NHL.
