Tevez left Boca Juniors about a year ago and has not played football since, but there have been occasional reports that he may return to the pitch.
Now, also in order not to disappoint the many fans around the world who were hoping for his arrival, he announced his retirement with dozens of titles - in the focus of championships in Argentina, Brazil, England and Italy, winning the Champions League with Manchester United, winning a double with City and a gold medal with Argentina Olympic Games in Athens 2004. In the uniform of the senior Argentina national team he scored 13 goals in 76 appearances between 2004 and 2015.
"I had many offers, but I officially retired," he said, "I was a player who gave his all, I gave my whole heart and that's what keeps me calm after I announced my retirement. In the morning, I called the heads of Boca Juniors and the people close to me and told them I was quitting. Everyone asked me why I was quitting and I replied that I had lost my No. 1 fan. "I thought of myself. Without him, I have no point in continuing."
