Football games have often been stopped - even with guns and monkey violence.

Here is an example.

And yet we ask ourselves: The decision in Lengdorf - did it have to be?

Actually, it doesn't matter how the newly scheduled relegation game for the A-class between FC Hörgersdorf and FC Türkgücü Erding ended on Friday evening (nevertheless, of course, congratulations to Türkgücü Erding).

Both teams have until the middle of next week to contest the sports court decision and to appeal.

Such a turn would not be new.

Even SC Freiburg, often regarded as the Bambi of the Bundesliga, took legal action this year because the opponent was twelve on the pitch for a few seconds.

After all, you have to protect the interests of the association and blablabla.

Yes, club officials don't have it easy.

That's probably the only reason why the president of Paok Thessaloniki stormed onto the pitch in the 89th minute of the game against AEK Athens after being ruled offside.

The referee then broke off.

Maybe he was nervous because the Paok man was clearly wearing a revolver in his belt.

Not that Paok will become Amok Thessaloniki.

A justifiable termination.

This also applies to Martin Petersen's decision, when a fan threw a lighter at his head during the cup game between VfL Osnabrück and RB Leipzig.

The referee didn't even ask for a light.

And the EURO qualifier between Serbia and Albania ended in the 42nd minute after a drone flew over the field with a Greater Albania flag and the players started to attack each other.

Monkey noises from the fan curve have also led to a premature end several times (but actually too seldom).

And then there was the canceled game due to a broken post (Gladbach vs. Bremen, 1971).

That means: Whether it's gun violence, monkey violence or something else – there's always been a premature end. And sometimes you would have even wished for it (keyword European Championship game with Denmark's Christian Eriksen).

There was almost always no other option, but was it the same on Tuesday?

As a reminder, a drunk took a few steps into the field in the 92nd minute of the relegation game in Lengdorf and grabbed the linesman's arm.

Was it really that dangerous?

Wouldn't it have been enough if the folders had been sent off?

From many conversations - also with those responsible for the sports court - one could hear: Yes, that would have been a possibility.

Probably even the better one.

On the other hand: With his rigorous decision, the referee made it clear that we regularly have to be insulted for 90 minutes for every decision – whether right or wrong.

At least stay away from us!

Perhaps the consequences of this are a lesson for all viewers.

The unbearably unfair side of this story is that this is at the expense of the great and bravely fighting footballers.

Speaking of consequences and lessons: "If I don't like the result in the 92nd minute, I simply attack the linesman." This conclusion sounds obvious, but it is a fallacy.

First, the sports tribunal will never, ever order a replay if the perpetrator is attributable to a fan camp.

And secondly, there are also personal penalties for such perpetrators.

It is quite possible that the person who caused the game to be abandoned on Tuesday will not see a game on any soccer field next season because the BFV blocks him.

Incidentally, he is inconsolable and – like his wife, by the way – cannot understand what he has done.

Well, shitty alcohol is all you can say.

At least he wasn't quite as crazy as that fan of English fourth division side Tranmere Rovers,

who in 2003 climbed a floodlight mast while drunk in order to jump from there onto the roof of the grandstand.

The man got a nationwide stadium ban for five years.

But back to our club officials: We didn't even ask them whether they would appeal.

In all conversations so far it has been clear: who will play district class or A class in the future, they want to decide on the pitch.

Because we didn't know the latter, we blurted it out prematurely.
