At 24 hours from the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr. I), the most beautiful race reserved for 3-year-old colts, the quinté of the day took place at the Auteuil racecourse (Paris XVI).
This race pitted fourteen steeple-chasers, aged 5 to 11 inclusive, after the withdrawals of
Nabuco Has
(n°3) and
Hope Klass
(n°15).
Contested over 3,700m on very soft ground (4.1 on the penetrometer), this handicap went to
Monster Caroli
(n°5).
This 7-year-old gelding happily alternates the two jumping specialties.
Winner twice in April on the Butte Mortemart, he easily tripled the bet on the occasion of this quinté.
After leading the race at a high pace, he produced excellent acceleration in the closing stages to win by two lengths.
After several career breaks, he made up for lost time and offered his trainer Jérôme Delaunay a first victory in a fifth: “His partner, Alain de Chitray rode him very well and he jumped wonderfully.
This horse is hard on the effort and this course of 3700 meters suits him perfectly.
He always gives his all and I can't fault him.

Poulorius
(No. 14) erased his underperformance of April 30, by behaving remarkably.
Waiting mid-pack, he made great strides to take a clear second place.
Pragelor
(n°9) caused a surprise by finishing in third place at odds of 35/1.
Absent from competition since November, the latter is performing a convincing comeback race.
At 9 years old, he proves that he is still in great shape.
The favorite
Filup
(n°2) galloped in a good position, but made a mistake at the last hurdle and had trouble getting back on his feet.
It costs him a better allowance.
He takes fourth place and is ahead of
Blackfield
(No. 11) who completes the arrival of the quinté.
Beryl Baie
(n°8) was at fault and ejected her partner.
