2022-06-05T05:57:42.413Z

At 39, one of the greatest scenes of all time in European basketball - retired • 20 titles with Real Madrid, a total connection to Spain (including a farewell speech in Spanish) and a source of inspiration, all of which describe the career of the beloved American

The end of a legend's path.

One of the biggest scenes in European basketball officially retired from basketball yesterday at the age of 39.

In an exciting ceremony, and delivering his farewell speech in Spanish, JC Carroll, who has served Real Madrid for a decade, said goodbye to the club and the game after a glorious career.

It was an official farewell, but Carol actually finished his basketball episode at the end of last season.

The thing is, he did not announce his retirement and we only saw his pictures on social media at a U.S. farm.

Real, for its part, kept the place for him.

He was listed on the squad and was considered a player until yesterday, all when there was hope during the season that he might change his mind.

That did not happen, and yesterday at the Wiznik Center, before the playoff game against Basconia, the official retirement ceremony was held for Carol.

A brilliant career

You said shots, you said JC Carol.

When someone in Europe wanted to talk about absolute shooting, the best example to give was the name JC Carroll.

His ability to come out of blocks and release his quick ball were amazing.

It is impossible to count the amount of games he changed and won with his tremendous shooting to three.

Throughout his career he has not dropped from 40 percent to three per season average.

No physicality, no athleticism, but with a deadly hand.

The best scorer on the continent for a period of almost a decade and an amazing career in one of the most glorious clubs in Europe.

The story of his life and the course of his career at a young age were extraordinary.

Carol was born to Mormon parents and stopped everything to serve the Mormon Church before his college career.

He went on a mission on behalf of the Mormon Church in Chile where he engaged in humanitarian activities and trying to bring hearts closer to the church.

When he returned, he went to Utah State College.

He quickly made up for the shortcomings and the long break did not stop him on the way to a great career, being very popular wherever he was.

He arrived at Real in 2011 from Gran Canaria.

In fact, apart from being tortured in the Italian tram, the entire career of the American guard was in Spain - and the complete command of the language we heard in the farewell speech.

Not every foreign player plays ten years at the same club, not every foreigner becomes a symbol in his club - Carroll has been an integral part of Real's success in the last decade and no wonder the club has remained loyal to him until the last minute.

We have no less than 20 titles, including two Euroleague wins, but since yesterday it's all history, with the official end of one of the brightest careers of an American player in European basketball.

Were we wrong?
