FC Wacker and FC Hellas accuse after player collapse: "BFV plays with human lives"

The game between FC Hellas and FC Wacker came to an inglorious end.

No winner was found between FC Hellas and FC Wacker in the promotion final.

After a medical emergency, both clubs severely criticized the BFV.

- It should be an exciting football festival.

With FC Hellas and FC Wacker, two district league teams faced each other on an equal footing to win the ticket for the district league.

There was no winner at the end, the game was canceled due to a severe storm.

But nobody talked about that after the game.

The reason for this was a medical emergency in the first half - and the bewilderment of those responsible and the players of both teams.

Right in the middle of the BFV, which is criticized by both sides.

Florian Bamminger, the board member of FC Wacker Munich, spoke afterwards of "inhuman behavior on the part of the Bavarian Football Association."

But one after anonther.

At 3:08 p.m., referee Richard Conrad kicked off the game.

Hellas got into the game better, but Wacker's supporters cheered after just under fifteen minutes.

The Hellas striker was immediately given emergency care by the surrounding players and support staff, a paramedic and a doctor rushed to help from the stands, as confirmed by Hellas board member Georgios Kitsios.

Nevertheless, the ambulance had to come.

Evangelou was brought to the ambulance on a stretcher while he was conscious and driven to the hospital.

Football was out of the question.

Players and coaches of both teams were visibly touched after this event. "Our players cried," Kitsios describes the moment.

Both teams didn't want to and couldn't continue playing, but they did.

Even if not entirely voluntarily.

The background to this caused a lack of understanding among those responsible for both teams.

It was goalless in the cabin.

20 minutes after the restart, referee Conrad sent the teams into the catacombs again.

Until the game was canceled due to the severe change in weather.

After that, emotions boiled over.

"It's a huge mess, it's a scandal."

Wacker board member Florian Bamminger.

"Thats really sad.

Sad when a human life is unimportant," added Kitsios.

It's about a statement from BFV game manager Volker Blum, who supervised the game.

"The game definitely has to be played to the end today," according to Bamminger, Kitsios and the players of both teams, Blum is said to have said on the pitch next to the unconscious Hellas player.

A statement that for Bamminger "finally broke the camel's back."

Because Bamminger and FC Wacker had "trouble with the BFV" during the week (the floodlights went out in the game against FC Phönix, the game had to be repeated).

"Something is going wrong at the Bavarian Football Association," says Bamminger, "and what really annoys me is that there has not yet been any inquiry as to how the player concerned is doing."

Kitsios cautiously gives the all-clear: “He is stable and approachable.

The hospital is currently checking whether there are any consequential damages. ”According to the emergency doctors, Evangelou had heart problems on the lawn.

In addition, according to Kitsios, the player has struggled with blood pressure problems in the past.

After the inglorious end, FC Hellas and FC Wacker again sought talks with BFV manager Blum.

“You know yourself that what you do sucks.

It's not in the spirit of the sport, you're not doing your job justice.

You hide behind paragraphs," Wacker coach Flo Hahn intervened with critical statements towards Volker Blum - and earned thunderous applause from those around.

"I went to the referee and told him that if Hellas didn't want to continue playing, we'd stop the game, I'd take it upon myself and we'd play the game again."

“The association is responsible for organizing the game operations.

The association was already incapable on Tuesday when the lights went out after 110 minutes.

We couldn't help it and neither could the opponent.

Several of my players are absolutely exhausted, they are overworked," the coach explained later.

Background: Today's game was the fifth game in nine days for FC Wacker, and the BFV refused to have the game postponed by the club's management.

What does Volker Blum have to say about the allegations?
