Now Vettel's boss is commenting on the rumors in more detail for the first time.

"When you have someone like Sebastian, you have to try to keep him.

He has extreme driving experience, but he's also a very positive person who just keeps us moving forward," said Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack in an interview with RTL/ntv.

Most recently it was said that Vettel was losing interest in Formula 1 because he only drove around in the back seats with the weakening Aston Martin.

Krack sees things differently.

"When you see how he throws himself into it: nobody who doesn't want to drive anymore acts like that," said Krack, who worked with the Heppenheimer at BMW-Sauber at the beginning of Vettel's Formula 1 career.

However, the Luxembourger did not want to deny an interest in Mick Schumacher as a possible successor to Vettel.

We have our way that we want to continue with Sebastian.

We'll see everything else at a later date," explained Krack.

However, the 50-year-old left a back door open: "We follow all drivers who are active in Formula 1." Maybe even Mick Schumacher?

Vettel's contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of the year.

"It should be noticeable that the car is improving and that I can also see that the team is making progress," demanded the 34-year-old.

If not, the racing team would have to look for a new driver.
