Mick Schumacher could not only follow in his father's footsteps in Formula 1.

Schumi junior is traded at Aston Martin as Vettel's successor.

Munich – How long will German motorsport fans see Sebastian Vettel in Formula 1? In recent weeks there has been increasing speculation that the four-time world champion will soon end his career.

Aston Martin is apparently thinking about Mick Schumacher as Vettel's successor.

Now Vettel's boss is commenting on the rumors in more detail for the first time.

Sebastian Vettel

Born: July 3, 1987 (age 34), Heppenheim (Bergstrasse)

Racing team: Aston Martin

Contract until: end of 2022

Greatest achievements: 4 x Formula 1 World Champion (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)

Formula 1: Aston Martin team boss does not expect Vettel's career to end

"When you have someone like Sebastian, you have to try to keep him.

He has extreme driving experience, but he's also a very positive person who just keeps us moving forward," said Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack in an interview with RTL/ntv.

Most recently it was said that Vettel was losing interest in Formula 1 because he only drove around in the back seats with the weakening Aston Martin.

Krack sees things differently.

"When you see how he throws himself into it: nobody who doesn't want to drive anymore acts like that," said Krack, who worked with the Heppenheimer at BMW-Sauber at the beginning of Vettel's Formula 1 career.

However, the Luxembourger did not want to deny an interest in Mick Schumacher as a possible successor to Vettel.

Aston Martin boss speaks out

“It is too early to discuss such issues now.

We have our way that we want to continue with Sebastian.

We'll see everything else at a later date," explained Krack.

However, the 50-year-old left a back door open: "We follow all drivers who are active in Formula 1." Maybe even Mick Schumacher?

Vettel's contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of the year.

"It should be noticeable that the car is improving and that I can also see that the team is making progress," demanded the 34-year-old.

If not, the racing team would have to look for a new driver.

Haas pilot Mick Schumacher is also considered a serious option for marketing purposes given his name and German heritage.

Aston Martin wants to improve on the weak sales figures in Europe. According to

Motorsportl.com

, only 87 cars were sold in Europe last February.

Formula 1: Mick Schumacher and Vettel together at Aston Martin?

A duo of Vettel and Schumacher at Aston Martin would be even more attractive.

However, this scenario is considered unlikely as Lance Stroll, as the son of the team owner, is firmly in the Aston Martin cockpit.

In addition, a move by Schumacher to Aston Martin could fail due to Ferrari's veto.

Schumi junior is part of the Ferrari junior academy.

It remains exciting.

The next race is scheduled for June 12 with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.
