Artistic gymnast Nicole Zelikman, who represented Israel at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, came to deliver a sports lesson to Holocaust survivors and the elderly as part of a special project to encourage a healthy lifestyle for seniors of the "Live with Dignity" organization.
Zelikman, who finished seventh at the Olympics, was thrilled to be one of the first athletes to take part in the unique project and called on her fellow athletes to come train with the seniors and contribute to raising awareness for integrating sports into the seniors' routine.
"It fills me as an athlete to know that my work can affect other people and especially people who have to deal to live with dignity," Zelikman said.
"I'm glad I have even a small and minimal part of the project. It makes me a lot of happy at heart. Hopefully more athletes will come who will continue this path with me."
The "Live with Dignity" organization aims to care for Holocaust survivors and the elderly and to provide them with a supportive framework in all areas of life.
The association distributes more than 1,500 hot meals every day and combines sports activities tailored for senior groups around the country.
