Re-arranging the Syrian sports papers was the focus of the meeting held by the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation headed by Firas Mualla with the joints of sports work and its institutions, which dealt with important issues that contribute to the advancement of Syrian sports.
In the meeting, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Sports Federation in Damascus, Moalla stopped at many issues that require reconsideration, which aim to once again raise the level of our players in various sports. He said: “We are heading towards the Mediterranean Games, which will start at the end of this month. In Algeria, we will participate in seven games: athletics, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, judo, gymnastics and equestrian, and we have made the necessary preparations to compete for the first places.”
Mualla added: Our players’ preparations for the average were perfect, as our teams entered long camps. In boxing and wrestling, the players underwent two training camps that lasted for two months in Russia, which is a good period for contact with the champions of the two games, and we expect them to compete strongly in the upcoming maturity, as is the case in weightlifting, judo, gymnastics and equestrian In the rest of the games in the tournament as a result of the weak competition, the average tournament is an important sporting event and there is no room for our players to get involved in it for the sake of friction only.
Moalla continued: The federation provided the necessary financial support to bring our teams to the required level of competition and achieve important achievements while raising the value of compensation after the important achievements they achieved. The athlete, Maan Asaad, receives a financial compensation of 4 million pounds per month, while the high jumper Majd Ghazal receives 2 million pounds. Pointing out that the federation allocated the winners of the next Mediterranean session with material rewards. The gold medalist will get 15 million pounds, the silver 10 million pounds, and the bronze 7 million pounds, with them being equal to their coaches.
The President of the General Sports Federation called on the Basketball Association to provide everything necessary for our team to beat its Bahraini and Iranian counterparts in the third window of the World Cup qualifiers during the coming period, calling at the same time to raise the level of preparations and contract with professionals of high caliber in preparation for the next window to achieve the desired victory.
Maalla did not hide the decline that Syrian sport is witnessing in a number of games, despite some achievements at the Arab level, which were recorded in the absence of Arab countries that have made their mark in these games, and this requires our federations to work seriously to return the players to the level required to achieve honorable results.
The most important axis on the discussion table in our sport is the stadium riots after our halls and stadiums have recently been buzzing with football and basketball. Mualla stressed the need to deal with this issue seriously and to put in place specific mechanisms to deal with fans’ associations in clubs, pointing to the great role of clubs and executive committees of the Federation. In the governorates, in this regard, the public is the joy of sport, and its presence gives more enthusiasm to the matches and directs it towards the right track is very important, and we will work to find an appropriate combination for the work of the fans’ associations before the start of the next football season.
