The Stade Pierre-Mauroy where the Lille football club plays will change its name reveals France Bleu Nord this Wednesday.
The 50,000-seat multifunction arena located in Villeneuve-d'Ascq and inaugurated in 2012 will be called Decathlon Arena in the coming weeks after the name of the retail group specializing in sport and leisure.
The European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) had been looking for a partner for the naming of the northern stadium for four years.
Between 2013 and 2018, four sponsors (Crédit Mutuel, the General Council of the North, Carrefour and Nacarat) spent two million euros per year before disengaging, indicates France Bleu Nord.
This decision will be confirmed at the next MEL council meeting on June 27.
