After the Monaco guest appearance, the next city race in Formula 1 in Baku is on the agenda.
The distance:
Baku - It's a real challenge for the teams to fine-tune their cars.
The ultra-long home straight tests the power of the engine.
Driving skills and good cornering are required in the narrow old town.
At 6.003 kilometers, the Baku City Circuit is one of the longest courses on the calendar.
The design was penned by German Formula 1 master builder Hermann Tilke.
The location:
Paddock and start are right on the promenade on the Caspian Sea.
With the help of the route, the cameras should capture as many sights as possible in Baku, such as the medieval fortress and the three flame towers.
Oil-rich Azerbaijan also wants to produce spectacular images for advertising purposes through top sporting events such as Formula 1 and most recently European Football Championship games.
However, the bad human rights record of the authoritarian state is not impressive.
This is how it went last time:
There was a bang when Formula 1 returned to Baku after a year of Corona break.
There were already several accidents in qualifying.
In the race, Max Verstappen was driving towards what seemed like a certain victory when a tire burst just before the end.
Teammate Sergio Perez clinched his first race win for Red Bull. Sebastian Vettel surprisingly took second place in the Aston Martin.
In the five editions of the Baku race, there were five different winners.
