After his recent accidents in Formula 1, Mick Schumacher is not bothered by the increased pressure to perform.
Baku - "Maybe that sometimes helps to get faster," said the Haas driver before the eighth round of the season in Baku.
He tries to use the pressure for himself.
"That motivates me and gives the whole thing a different dynamic," explained the 23-year-old.
Most recently in Monaco and a few weeks before that in Saudi Arabia, Schumacher had completely destroyed his racing car in serious accidents.
"It's impossible to go on like this," confirmed Haas team boss Günther Steiner before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
If Schumacher wants to score points, he shouldn't drive into the walls.
"He knows that too.
If he drives into a wall somewhere, that's not healthy either," said Steiner.
But he will not keep asking Schumacher to avoid accidents.
"That only makes it worse.
That just creates a defensive attitude,” explained the Italian.
Schumacher said it was "only a matter of time" before he and his team were rewarded for their efforts.
However, team boss Steiner admitted that the budget planned for damage was already exceeded due to the costs for repairs and new parts.
In addition, it is difficult to get enough spare parts from suppliers in good time so as not to endanger racing operations.
