Spartak Moscow Football Club officially announced today the appointment of Spanish coach Guillermo Abascal as the new coach of Spartak, succeeding former Italian coach Paolo Fanoli, who submitted his resignation.
Spartak Moscow published a statement on his Twitter account, saying: Officially Guillermo Abascal is the new coach of Spartak.
Abascal, a graduate of the Barcelona and Seville academies, worked in the Seville youth team and then in the Swiss clubs Chiasso and Lugano, and held the position of coach of the Italian club Ascoli and the Greek club Volos.
He coached Basel FC at the beginning of 2022 and took second place with him in the Swiss Super League.
It is noteworthy that Italian Paolo Fanoli announced his resignation yesterday as the coach of the Spartak Moscow team, which he took over in December 2021 and led them to win the Russian Cup, but finished tenth in the Russian Premier League.
