Formula 1 would be the first step into the world of live sports for streaming giant Netflix.
The negotiators of both parties already know each other.
Munich - The contracts between Liberty Media - the company that owns the Formula 1 group - and the currently entitled parties for the Formula 1 broadcasts will end shortly.
The chance to enter the world of live sports for Netflix!
The streaming provider is aggressively courting the transmission rights.
The documentary series “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” has been appearing on the platform since 2019.
So there are no strangers sitting across from each other at the negotiating table.
Formula 1: manageable risk for Netflix
As the portal
grandprix247
reports, the Formula 1 business for Netflix represents a relatively low risk. According to reports, Liberty Media wants to earn around 93 million euros (100 million US dollars) from the sale.
A comparatively manageable amount for the size of the market.
Formula 1 is watched all over the world, the field of drivers is international and the US market, which is heavily advertised, is currently experiencing a true motorsport boom.
The Miami Grand Prix celebrated its premiere this year.
So it's only logical for Netflix to apply for the US rights that will become available next season.
ESPN is still broadcasting all the races there this season.

Sky: Formula 1 rights only until 2024 at the sports broadcaster
German Formula 1 fans, on the other hand, do not yet have to consider whether they want to take out a new subscription next year.
In Germany, the rights for the transmission of all races are exclusive to Sky until 2024.
Including the four races that will be shown on free TV on RTL.
So if you want to continue watching dramatic scenes like in Monaco, simply stay with the current subscription.
However, it should be interesting for German users that Amazon is said to have entered poker in the USA.
If one of the two streaming providers is successful in the USA, Formula 1 will probably also be found here in the future right next to the big series hits.
