The wheel gymnasts from TSV Weilheim drew attention to themselves with good placements at the southern German youth championships.

It will be up to them in the near future.

Rimpar/Weilheim – Won two bronze medals and secured four starting places for the youth championships – the approximately 340-kilometer journey to Rimpar (Lower Franconia) was worth it for the TSV Weilheim wheel gymnastics group.

At the southern German youth championships, the Weilheim women showed that they can keep up with the Bavarian top in the federal class, which is the highest level of performance.

In the class for 13 and 14-year-olds, Julia Durmann took third place, with Amelie Hammer fourth just behind her.

In the "Straight" and "Spiral" disciplines, both were even involved in the fight for the title.

Durmann finished the spiral exercise as third best (6.20 points).

In the straight freestyle, both women from Weilheim, in contrast to the competition, "only wobbled a little", as it says in a statement.

Since they performed high difficulties, they collected a good amount of points.

Hammer shone with the best rating (8.85) of all eleven participants, Durmann (8.55) managed the second best value.

In the jump, both showed “solid performances, which ultimately wasn’t enough for a great success.

Because the direct competitors Lena Lyding (SV Taunusstein-Neuhof) and Pauline Wunderling (ASV Rimpar) were clearly ahead in this discipline: They showed more difficult and sometimes better executed jumps.

With that they overtook the Weilheimer duo.

In third place, Durmann was 0.5 points behind silver and 0.55 points behind gold.

However, the two women from Weilheim had achieved their main goal: With their number of points, they created the norm for the youth championships, which will soon be held in Hanover.

Difficult spiral exercise mastered: Julia Durmann achieved the third best rating in her class.

In the 17 and 18 age group, Celina Sinner and Valentina Hammer faced three gymnasts who belonged to the German youth World Cup squad.

In the field of twelve participants, the two women from Weilheim presented themselves as absolutely competitive: Sinner won the bronze medal, Hammer, who recently won the Upper Bavarian championship in the Hardtschule, came sixth.

For the TSV duo, the competition began with the jump.

There Sinner showed a pike somersault, Hammer demonstrated a tucked somersault.

With the ratings they received for it, they placed themselves in the front half of the field.

In the spiral, Sinner did a great job with the exception of one minor imperfection.

She received 8.85 points - she had never received such a high rating before.

This put her on bronze.

Hammer performed cleanly, but she lacked the difficulties compared to her direct opponents.

Hammer also had bad luck in the straight freestyle: She suffered a fall and dropped back from fifth to sixth place.

In the meantime, things got exciting in the fight for bronze: Sinner did a good job of her exercise, Leonie Straus (ASV Rimpar) showed an even better performance.

In the end, Sinner stayed ahead by 0.05 points.

She had already won bronze at the Bavarian championship this year.
