They used to be on the pitch together for FC Eitting, and they will refine the district class in the coming season.

Florian Leininger becomes the new player-coach at Rot-Weiss Klettham, Markus Weber supports TuS Oberding as a playing assistant coach.

- "This is our royal transfer," Oberding's football boss Tobias Huber rejoices.

"We wanted to strengthen ourselves in a targeted manner." Where the shoe pinched at TuS last season can be seen from the table.

The Oberdinger conceded the fewest goals after the two promoted teams.

The fact that they still only finished eighth was due to the mild breeze that blew in the storm.

With Weber, TuS gets a leading player who brings a breath of fresh air to the offensive.

"We were very happy that he accepted, because it is not a matter of course that a player of such quality goes into the district class.

He is exactly the player we need, the last piece in our puzzle. ”In addition to Huber, TuS chairman Hubert Merklein and coach Freddy Obermeier also tried extremely hard to sign.

Some things played into TuS' cards, as Weber himself says.

He is currently building a house with his girlfriend, "that's why I can't be the head coach at the moment".

The construction site in Reisen is just five minutes by car from the Oberdinger sports field.

Despite the workload, he will probably not miss many training sessions, because he is ambitious.

As a player-coach, he led the FCE back to the top of the district league.

"I also chose Oberding because TuS has big plans for the next few years.

A lot is being done on the sports grounds.

And the TuS wants to attack in the district class in the coming years.

I'm not a guy who wants to kick around somewhere in the middle of the table," says Weber,

The conversation with Oberding's head coach Obermeier fully convinced him, and the roles were also clearly assigned.

"Freddy is the head coach and will also take over most of the training." That is also a big advantage for him, says Weber, "because I can take better care of myself in every session and then get even fitter.

That's almost impossible as the main coach.” And if necessary, Tobi Stürzer gets him on his feet.

The TuS captain will remain with the coaching team as an athletics and endurance coach.

Is Oberding a good choice?

Hans Faltermaier probably cleared up the last doubts.

His future father-in-law, who resigned as sporting director at FC Eitting a few months ago, was himself a coach at TuS for eight years.

"He told me that those were his best years as a coach ever," says Weber.

Incidentally, a promotion photo from 1992/93 hangs in the clubhouse and is reminiscent of the Faltermaier era.

Oberding's table neighbors conceded 30 more goals last season.

For this reason alone it makes sense that Rot-Weiss Klettham has signed Leininger, an experienced goalkeeper, as player-coach.

"The euphoria was great when we introduced him to the team," reports department head Patrick Tischer.

"We wanted to get him as a goalkeeper years ago and we're happy that it worked out now.

We are also fully convinced of him as a person,” says the football boss.

Leininger will help the team as a goalkeeper and also tactically and make the defense more solid.

Leininger was player-coach with Maxi Bauer at SC Moosen last season.

"That also worked very well," he says, "but now I want to do something on my own again." Why RWK?

Leininger has to smile a little.

“Patrick seems to have very good connections.

He called me when only four people knew that I was retiring in Moosen.” He was also attracted by the “very interesting team that played a little below their potential.

I also like that it's a close-knit group that sits together longer after the players' meetings on Thursday and after the games.

"And I also like this flair of the workers' association."

Leininger will work without an assistant coach.

Leading the training in this way is not a problem.

The captain will take care of the warm-up before the game.

For any time announcements during the game, Tischer will sit on the bench.

Leininger sometimes states what is important to him: "That one fights for the other.

We need a certain variability in the game so that we can switch from a back four to a back three depending on the opponent.

But that takes time.

First of all, the basics have to be right.”

The club did not give him a direct goal.

But Leininger is already aiming for the top third of the table.

And he should develop talents.

"Patrick has a few young players in mind who should mature into top performers in the next few years," said Leininger, who will be 37 on July 2nd.

The preparation begins two days before.

Leininger expects a "relatively balanced district class with very strong promoted players.

Hohenpolding and Moosen will also be up front again.

And Berglern has already played a good role this year as a climber.” His former Eittinger team colleague Weber even believes that the district class will be even stronger than last year.

This is not least due to the three climbers: "For me, Altenerding is even the top favorite when you have seen how they marched through the A-Class."
