VfB Stuttgart midfielder Atakan Karazor has been arrested while on holiday in Ibiza.
The Bundesliga soccer club announced this in a brief statement on Saturday afternoon and stated that the player denied any criminal activity.
With reference to an ongoing process, the club further stated that it "cannot comment further for the time being" and did not give any details about the case.
At the request of the German Press Agency, the police in Ibiza only confirmed the arrest of two 25-year-old Germans who were accused of rape by a young Spaniard.
The identities of the people involved are not disclosed.
According to the "Bild" newspaper and the British "Mirror", however, Karazor and another man are accused of raping an 18-year-old.
According to the »Mirror«, the young woman then had to go to the hospital and lodged a complaint with the police.
Born in Essen, Karazor has been under contract with VfB since July 2019.
In the past season he was used in 25 competitive games for the Swabians.
In May, both sides extended the contract until 2026.
