24 Hours of Le Mans: Toyota n°8 wins the 90th edition, fifth title in a row for the manufacturer

The legendary race was won by New Zealander Brendon Hartley, Swiss Sébastien Buemi and Japanese Ryo Hirakawa.


The Japanese manufacturer, winner of the last four editions, was obviously the big favorite for this 90th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Toyota again assumed its status this weekend by placing two cars in the first two places of the queen race, this Sunday afternoon.

It was the No. 8 Toyota, which took the lead on the starting grid after its pole position on Thursday, which won the Hypercar trophy.

His crew made up of New Zealander Brendon Hartley, Swiss Sébastien Buemi - winner for the fourth time - and Japanese Ryo Hirakawa beat the Toyota n°7, which won in 2021 with an identical crew (Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez).

Regrets for Alpine

The disappointment was nevertheless great for the Alpine n°36 and the French manufacturer.

The crew (Matthieu Vaxiviere, André Negrao and Nicolas Lapierre) who had started in third position was quickly left behind, trailing by several laps after several mishaps including a clutch problem.
