“We need commitment and aggressiveness. It has been the leitmotif of our last two matches, and we have shown that we can keep
it,” explained the coach at a press conference the day before the match.
After a 3-0 defeat at home against Austria, Croatia reacted well by holding France in check (1-1) before going to win in Denmark (1-0) in the League of Nations.
But the "Vatreni" have never beaten the Blues in their history, in nine confrontations.
“I don't know if it's a complex but it's true that I played four times against them and we never won. But rather than talking about numbers, we have to play our best football
,” he suggested.
As before the first leg, Dalic almost confirmed his starting "eleven" in full, with in particular a midfield identical to that which had started in Split, composed of Marcelo Brozovic, Mateo Kovacic and captain Luka Modric.
Uncertainty remains on the central defense, with the possibility of seeing the Marseillais Duje Caleta-Car appear among the holders, when he was not on the match sheet in the first leg, two days after celebrating his wedding.
