Four days after Julia Chernoy secured her place in the Paralympic Games in Paris, the Israeli scorer achieved another feat, when she won the bronze medal today (Sunday) in the 50-meter race in the recumbent position.
Chernoy first advanced to the qualifiers, where it scored 618.8 points and was temporarily ranked second, those in the final itself, scored 228.2 points and settled for third place.
As you may recall, on the opening day of the competition, the 42-year-old Chernoy, coached by Guy Strick, won the gold in the 10-meter recumbent air rifle competition, making her the first athlete to fly to the Paralympic Games for the third time in her career.
Chernoy was born in Kazakhstan with mild cerebral palsy, which makes it difficult for her to walk on her right foot and use her right hand, and she uses a walking stick.
She immigrated to Israel without her family in 2000 from Belarus through an outstanding program.
