Until this week Tim Van Roithaven was a player on the fringes of world tennis.
The 25-year-old, a likable youth player who failed to make the coveted breakthrough and who never won a game in the ATP round or even won a Challenger tournament.
From the 205th place in the world rankings he received a free ticket to the Dan Bush tournament, where he completed the dream week of his life.
First he defeated Australian Matthew Abden by two draws in what was his first victory in the ATP round, then came back from a battle lag to win third place in the American Taylor Fritz tournament, in the quarterfinals he defeated Frenchman Hugo Gaston, in a stunning semi-final with a victory over second place in the Felix tournament Uja Eliasim and today (Sunday) in the final did the unbelievable: 4: 6, 1: 6 over Daniel Medvedev, starting from the first ranked week in the world.
