Melvyn Jaminet takes care of his departure

The back of the USAP wanted to end in style with his club, he joined the deeds to the words.

While his team started the match badly as usual, Melvyn Jaminet scored a try alone and brought Perpignan to 10-10 in the 18th minute.

This is the first try of the native of Hyères this season.

He scored all the points for his team in the first period by achieving a faultless kick with 3 penalties and a conversion on his own try.

The French international allows USAP to be tied with Mont-de-Marsan at the break (16-16).

Finally, Melvyn Jaminet scored 26 points out of his team's 41 and finished with a foot record of 8/9.

A last exceptional outing for the 22-year-old who will play for Stade Toulousain next season.

A historic first for the USAP

Despite a decent season, the USAP had to play this match against Mont-de-Marsan who had a superb season in pro D2 by finishing leader at the end of the regular season.

Admittedly, the Landais had taken a slap in the pro D2 final last week against Bayonne, but the statistics remained in favor of Stade Montois.

Since the creation of the "Access Match", no Top 14 club had managed to stay in the elite of French rugby.

Oyonnax had failed in 2018, Grenoble in 2019 and Bayonne last year.

Perpignan puts an end to this curse of the Top 14 clubs and manages to maintain itself for next season to the delight of its coach Patrick Arlettaz who wanted USAP to be the first club to achieve this feat.

FLOPS

Goneva weighs down the Stade Montois

Three-quarter wing Vereniki Goneva, a very experienced 38-year-old player, came to weigh down his team at the worst of times.

Rather comfortable in the first period despite a big indiscipline which offers 3 penalties to Jaminet, Stade Montois will take the tide in the second period and Goneva is not for nothing.

The Fijian is sanctioned with a yellow card in the 48th minute when the score is 16-16 for a tackle in the feet of an opponent without using his arms.

This fact of the game leads the Landais to evolve in numerical inferiority from the start of the second period and the locals will crack physically.

The USAP players will take the opportunity to pass them 13 points and so fly to victory.

First fatal home defeat to the Landais

The locals started the match well by scoring the first try in the 4th minute thanks to Laousse-Azpiazu on a kicking game inspired by Wakaya.

Tense at the start of the match, the Catalans will gradually come back into the game and finally Stade Montois and USAP will leave each other back to back at the break.

In the second half, the Landais will undergo the law of Perpignan and bow quite heavily with the score of 16-41.

The blow is hard to take for the Landes with this first defeat at home at the worst time which costs them their place in the Top 14. The players of Mont-de-Marsan will have to remobilize to approach the next season with as much ambition , but it will be without their leader Léo Coly, who will now join Montpellier.
