There was never really any doubt but, after his retirement from the Giro, Romain Bardet decided to clarify the situation by announcing this l

Even before the race has started, Romain Bardet has already won a small victory.

This Monday, on his twitter account, the French rider from DSM announced that he would participate in the Tour de France, which will start on July 1 from Denmark for three weeks of struggle to reach the Champs-Elysées on July 24.

After his retirement from the Giro three weeks ago when he was in 4th place overall, Romain Bardet was not calm.

Normal, affected by an intestinal virus, the best climber of the Tour de France 2019 was not at best.

A doubt could legitimately hang over his possible participation in the Grande Boucle.

This Monday, Bardet wanted to dispel any ambiguity by posting these few words: “Really delighted to announce that I will be competing in the Tour de France with Team DSM.

I can't wait to be at the big start in Copenhagen in a few weeks.”

Really excited to announce that I will line up at @LeTour with @TeamDSM.

For Bardet, the Giro and the Tour de France were the two main objectives of his 2022 season. For lack of a Giro, here he is in an event where he has often excelled by winning places of honor in eight participations and in particular two podiums (6th in 2014, 9th in 2015, 2nd in 2016, 3rd in 2017 and 6th in 2018).

Winners of three stages, he brought home the polka dot jersey in 2019.

Last year, the 31-year-old Auvergnat had skipped the Tour de France, preferring the Giro and the Vuelta, of which he had won a stage.
