A month before the opening of the 21st Maccabiah Games, it was announced tonight (Tuesday) that the person who is expected to come and visit the athletes during the competitions is no less and no more, US President Joe Biden.
Biden is expected to land in Israel on July 13, a day after the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, with his busy schedule, apart from a meeting with heads of state: a visit to the Iron Dome, a visit to the Palestinian Authority, and a reference to the major sporting event.
The Maccabiah said: "If US President Joe Biden chooses to visit the Maccabiah Games, we will be happy to welcome him and host him in the most dignified manner."
The Maccabiah is the largest sporting event of the people of Israel and the second largest in the world, held once every four years with the participation of Israeli and Jewish athletes from all over the world.
The Maccabiah, which will last two weeks, is expected to attract about 10,000 athletes from about 60 countries, who will compete in dozens of sports, along with thousands of escorts, fans and tourists.
As part of the Maccabiah, dozens of sports events will be held throughout the country, open to the general public, to be held under the title "Israel Celebrates Sports" in addition to a long line of social events that offer a unique and unforgettable experience to participants.
