With a 10-0 derby victory at SG Kirchasch/Walpertskirchen, the women's soccer club FC Schwaig won the district league championship and fulfilled their dream of promotion to the district league.

Schwaig – Before the game it was clear: One point would be enough for the team of head coach Manfred Buchhauser to win the championship.

But Schwaig wanted revenge for the 2-0 home defeat in the first leg and played hard to win.

It took just six minutes for the visitors to take the lead.

After a great pass from Lisa Maier, Nana Opoku had no trouble making it 1-0 from seven yards out.

Four minutes later, Sophia Buchhauser shot the ball into the net from a half-left position from a distance of twelve meters to make it 2-0.

Schwaig kept up the pressure and didn't let the hosts develop.

In the 28th minute, Trendelina Lulaj sent goalgetter Opoku on her way, who deliberately scored to make it 3-0.

Lola Ascher, Eva Lüthje and Opoku with their third goal increased the score to 6:0 by half-time.

After the change of sides, Maier scored in an inimitable way to make it 7:0.

After a nice through ball from Vroni Rupprecht, she escaped her opponent, played around goalkeeper Martina Grimm and pushed the ball into the empty goal.

Sophia Buchhauser scored the eighth and nineth goal before Emily Grimes scored three minutes before the end to make it 10-0.

When the sovereign referee Johannes Hermansdorfer blew the whistle, there was no stopping Schwaig.

Players, coaches and fans hugged each other and celebrated the championship like there was no tomorrow.

Everyone finally felt the tension after a season with many ups and downs.

The team had waited a long time for this moment.

Last year, the team was denied promotion after the corona-related end of the season as second in the table.

It should work this year.

After great preparation and winning the TS Teamwear Cup with a 6-2 win against the district league team FC Langengeisling, disillusionment quickly followed: Captain Chrissy Lommer suffered a serious injury (broken knee and torn ligaments) and scored a 0 in the first game of the season :3 home defeat against SV Geroldshausen.

Although FCS fought its way back to the top third of the table, the next blows to the neck followed with the serious injuries of goalgetter Lisa Maier (broken knee and meniscus tear) and Anna Schlehhuber (ruptured syndesmosis ligament) as well as numerous corona cases.

But the team didn't let that throw them off course, moved even closer together and fought their way up to second place in the table until the winter break.

"My team has grown up," stated coach Manfred Buchhauser.

In the second half of the season, Schwaig played himself into a frenzy.

Boosted by the return of the long-term injured, confidence grew and the team marched on, finishing with eight wins and a draw.

FC Schwaig is going into the district league adventure with the same team as before, only goalkeeper Anna Leitmann is returning to her home country for work-related reasons.

If the team continues to work with such commitment, staying in the district league should also be possible.
