Maccabi Haifa was informed today (Wednesday) that its path to a third appearance ever in the Champions League is going to be especially difficult from the first stage.
The Israeli champion was drawn against Olympiacos in the second qualifying round, when of all the options on the table, the Greek champion is the most difficult.
However, even for the Greeks who were ranked the lottery did not shine a face.
In Greece, the Greens were considered the strongest team they could get from the unranked, and coach Pedro Martinez did not take it lightly either.

In another matter, Olympiacos' Moroccan striker, Yusuf al-Arabi, has extended his contract for another two years at the club and will, of course, meet the Israeli champion for the duo next month.
Al Arabi, who has previously also played for Cannes and Granada, arrived in Greece in 2019 from Qatari El Duhail and in the last championship season scored 23 goals in 51 games in all competitions.
The Moroccan's contract expired this month, and an agreement was reached between the two sides on the continuation of the engagement until 2024.
