Uruguay's 0: 2 Summary in Chile (Sport 1)

Palestinian sources are pressuring the heads of the association in Uruguay to cancel the arrival of the local team to Israel before the World Cup.

According to reports in Uruguay, the team plans to complete the stages of preparation for the World Cup in Qatar with a visit to Israel, during which they are supposed to hold two preparatory games, among other things.

Local Association Vice President Gaston Taldy announced the plan last week, and since then his office has been flooded with letters from political sources.

Two groups from the West Bank, including the Al Khader group from Bethlehem, sent a letter to the association in Uruguay asking them to cancel the visit.

"Do not cooperate with the occupation. It is inconceivable that you would come to train where the Israeli army trains to slaughter our people every day," they wrote.

The Palestinian Association also sent a similar message, and human rights organizations in Uruguay joined the call, even addressing the players directly in an attempt to persuade them to refuse to come to Israel for reasons of conscience.

"Do not come to Israel! Ask our association not to accept the Israeli invitation," they noted in a campaign circulated on social media with the signatures of 20 different social organizations in Uruguay.

The Uruguayan team already arrived in Israel in November 2019, and at the time held a friendly match against the Argentine team with Lionel Messi.

The game played at Bloomfield Stadium ended in 2: 2.
