Nearly three weeks after the chaos of the Champions League final, organized at the Stade de France, the senators will try to retrace the course of events, Thursday in Saint-Denis, before presenting their conclusions the same day.

The presidents of the Culture and Laws Committees of the Senate, Laurent Lafon (centrist) and François-Noël Buffet (LR), will hear in the morning the interministerial delegate for the Olympic Games and major events, Michel Cadot, who pointed out in a report given last Friday to Elisabeth Borne the dysfunctions within the police as among the organizers.

In the afternoon, a delegation of members of the two commissions will travel to Saint-Denis to discuss with the leaders of the Stade de France consortium and visit the security PC and the video projection installations.

The senators "will then analyze the route leading spectators from the exits of RER B and D to the stadium enclosure in order to take stock of the problems encountered at the filtering points", specified the Senate.

At the end of this visit, François-Noël Buffet and Laurent Lafon will present to the press “their first conclusions on the events of May 28”, within the very enclosure of the Stade de France.

The hearing of the supporters shifted

First mentioned also for this Thursday, the hearing of the supporters of the two clubs, which was requested by the organization Football Supporters Europe (FSE), a European network of supporters, was ultimately not confirmed.

It could take place next week, according to a representative of the supporters.

The PS group in the Senate, chaired by former Sports Minister Patrick Kanner, deemed Wednesday "essential to hear the testimonies of representatives of Liverpool club supporters, but also those of Real Madrid".

“Many supporters have been victims of acts of delinquency” near the stadium, they “must be able to give their version of the facts”, believe the PS senators.

The two commissions, responsible for investigating the causes of the malfunctions that led to the fiasco of the final, launched a series of hearings on June 1, starting with that of the Ministers of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa- Castera.

After an initial controversy over the number of counterfeit banknotes, the revelation last week that not all CCTV footage had been retained sparked anger and misunderstanding among the opposition.
